When the time came to re-work the secondary containment area at Gilbert's NWTP, WaterWorks Engineers turned to Southwest Coating Specialists for help in specifying the right system. For a system to provide true secondary containment (SC) it must withstand accidental spills for up to 72 hours without losing it's integrity. These linings must also withstand impact and abrasion to provide the long term protection needed. Reliable protection from harsh chemicals and acids such as hydrofluosilicic and sulfuric is paramount.
The long history of successful Tnemec secondary containment systems gave the engineer and general contractor confidence to select the 239SC Chembloc MRM system. The system consists of a novolac epoxy mortar with an embedded fiberglass mat, novolac saturant and intermediate coats followed by a chemical resistant urethane topcoat. Robust by design, this coating system is designed to resist impact, thermal shock, abrasion along with chemical exposure. The topcoat also provided UV protection, a critical feature in Arizona.
