In the beautiful mountains surrounding Scottsdale, AZ rests several water tanks to service the surrounding community. The city of Scottsdale demands these tanks have the best coating systems to protect their tanks and the public thus yielding the lowest life cycle cost. 

GHD Group engineered a tank with the most protective coating system for the Site 43 1 Million Gallon steel storage reservoir. The advanced coating system specified began with a zinc rich primer for superior corrosion protection. Series 91 H2O Hyrdo-Zinc® was selected as the primer and was shop applied by MMI Tank and Industrial Services. 

The high performance, zinc rich primer was followed by a finish coat of an advanced generation, 100% solids epoxy. Tnemec Series 22 Epoxoline® was selected to provide superior protection to the interior shell walls and floor. The roof and rafter area was finished with a high solids epoxy coating, Tnemec Series 141 Epoxoline®.

Not only was this project completed with the most advanced interior coating system, it was also applied during unprecedented raw material shortages in 2020. Southwest Coating Specialists worked closely with MMI Tank and Industrial Services and GHD Group to ensure there was material available to complete the job.
