When Roosevelt Water Association needed an exterior refresh on a 20 year old Tnemec coated water tank, they enlisted TNW's Scott McConnell for a product recommendation. Since the original coating system included Tnemec Series 73, Endura-Shield topcoat, it was an easy call to simply specify a wash and 1-coat application.
Coating Applicators LLC, was awarded the project. After washing the tank to remove any chalking and other contaminants, all spot repairs were done with Series 27FC a fast cure polyamide epoxy. Then, 1-coat of Series 73 was roller applied at 3.0-5.0 mils DFT to finalize the refresh.
"We've been successfully using Series 73 for over 20 years", states Rorry Studley, the owner of Coating Applicators LLC. "It is our preferred polyurethane for alot of reasons, but specifically for how easy it brushes and rolls. We can make it lay down and look like it was spray applied".
Roosevelt Water Association knows they can expect another 20 years of service before they require additional work on the exterior of this tank. With that, they have confirmed they will be using Tnemec coatings for several upcoming projects.
