Few water tank projects around the nation received as much attention in 2018 Tnemec Tank of the Year contest as the 15,000-square-foot mural on the ground storage tank in Winston-Salem, N.C. With vivid blocks of color, a 50-foot-tall river otter and a unique waterfall landscape, the tank’s design was created by Japan- and Florida-based artist, Daas, who was selected to paint the water tank by the city’s Public Art Commission out of 47 different proposals.
To create the mural, the artist used dozens of colors of Tnemec Series 1026 Enduratone, a versatile, water-based acrylic emulsion from Tnemec. The city estimates that the mural will be seen by roughly 25,000 drivers a day.
