Historic Downtown Chandler, AZ is a vibrant community full of shops, dining and entertainment. It is truly a gem in an urban setting where people gather, shop and attend community events. When the need for expanded parking arose, SmithGroup selected Tnemec coatings for the Oregon Street Garage. They knew that bright, aesthetically pleasing colors fit in with the surrounding architecture, but only if they stay bright and aesthetically pleasing. 

One of the challenges to this project was the location as it pertained to surface preparation of the steel substrates. As an open air structure in the middle of a bustling downtown area, sandblasting would not be feasible. In turn, they specified a surface tolerant epoxy mastic for the prime coat. Tnemec Series 135 Chembuild was the perfect solution as it can be applied to marginally prepared steel. Series 135 is loaded with corrosion inhibitors for long term protection and it "wets' out slowly to allow superior adhesion. 

A desire for long term color and gloss retention led them to select Tnemec Series 1078 Fluoronar® Metallic as the top coat over an intermediate coat of Series 1075 Endura-Shield II. Series 1078 is an advanced thermoset fluoropolymer coating that provides an ultra-durable metallic finish. It has excellent color and gloss retention even in the harsh UV environment AZ is known for. Series 1078 will keep the garage looking sharp for many years to come.
