Built in 1981, the Mary C. Canty Recreation Center was last updated in 2004 and was due for a complete renovation. The City of Myrtle Beach, S.C., has used Tnemec coatings on numerous projects and knew they could trust our cantyhigh-quality products to protect the building for decades more.
Applicators used a wide variety of Tnemec coatings during the project, starting first on interior steel with Series 135 Chembuild and a topcoat of Series 740 UVX for additional UV protection where needed.
The City requested flake floors for the deck and bathrooms near the indoor pool. The contractor, Hacquard & Compton, Inc., used a combination of Series 208 Epoxoprime MVT, Series 206 Sub-Flex EP, Series 224 Deco-Fleck, Series 284 Deco-Clear, and Series 247 EverThane to produce a durable and appealing floor.
Pool decking, ceilings and ducts were covered with approx. 40 gallons of Series 1029 Enduratone, a versatile product for long-term protection in interior and exterior exposures.
