Explore the benefits of using Tnemec Company's Stranlok wall coating for optimal sanitation.

Understanding the Importance of Sanitary Design

Sanitary design plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of food and beverage processing. By implementing proper design principles, facilities can minimize the risk of contamination and create hygienic environments. Sanitary design involves the construction and layout of processing and handling areas, as well as the selection of materials and finishes that are easy to clean and maintain.

One key aspect of sanitary design is preventing the growth and spread of bacteria, pathogens, and other contaminants. This is achieved by minimizing areas where dirt, moisture, and food particles can accumulate, and ensuring that surfaces are smooth, non-porous, and resistant to microbial growth. Proper drainage systems, adequate ventilation, and effective pest control measures are also essential components of sanitary design.

Furthermore, sanitary design takes into consideration the flow of personnel and materials within the facility. Separating raw and finished products, implementing effective traffic patterns, and providing designated areas for cleaning and sanitizing equipment are all important aspects of ensuring food safety and preventing cross-contamination.

Key Elements of Sanitary Design in Food & Beverage Processing

When it comes to designing food and beverage processing facilities, several key elements should be considered to ensure sanitary conditions. Firstly, the layout should be designed to minimize the risk of cross-contamination. This can be achieved by separating different processing zones, providing separate areas for raw and finished products, and implementing proper traffic patterns to prevent the movement of contaminants between areas.

Another important element is the selection of appropriate materials and finishes. Surfaces should be smooth, non-porous, and resistant to chemicals and moisture. Stainless steel is often the preferred material for equipment and surfaces due to its durability, ease of cleaning, and corrosion resistance. Additionally, flooring should be seamless and resistant to chemicals, with proper slope for drainage.

Proper ventilation and air filtration systems are also crucial in maintaining sanitary conditions. These systems help to remove airborne contaminants, control humidity levels, and prevent the spread of odors. Effective pest control measures, such as sealing gaps and cracks, regular inspections, and proper waste management, are essential in preventing infestations and the transmission of diseases.

Lastly, proper training and education of personnel is an integral part of maintaining sanitary conditions. Staff should be trained on proper hygiene practices, including handwashing, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Regular monitoring and auditing of the facility's sanitary practices should also be conducted to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

The Role of Tnemec Company's Stranlok Wall Coating

Tnemec Company's Stranlok wall coating plays a crucial role in creating hygienic environments in food and beverage processing facilities. This innovative coating is specifically designed for sanitary applications, providing a seamless and durable finish that is easy to clean and maintain. The Stranlok wall coating is formulated with antimicrobial properties, which inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms on the coated surfaces.

By using Stranlok wall coating, facilities can ensure that their walls are resistant to moisture, chemicals, and staining. This not only enhances the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the facility but also prolongs the lifespan of the walls and reduces maintenance costs. The smooth and non-porous surface of the coating prevents the accumulation of dirt and contaminants, making it easier to clean and sanitize the walls.

In addition to its hygienic properties, Stranlok wall coating also offers aesthetic benefits. It is available in a wide range of colors, allowing facilities to create visually appealing environments that comply with sanitary design standards. The coating is also highly durable, with excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, and UV exposure, ensuring long-lasting performance.

Overall, Tnemec Company's Stranlok wall coating is an essential component of sanitary design in food and beverage processing facilities. It helps to create hygienic environments, minimize the risk of contamination, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

Benefits of Using Tnemec Company's Stranlok Wall Coating

There are several benefits to using Tnemec Company's Stranlok wall coating in food and beverage processing facilities. Firstly, the antimicrobial properties of the coating inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and other microorganisms, helping to maintain hygienic conditions and prevent the spread of contaminants.

The seamless and non-porous surface of the coating makes it easy to clean and sanitize, saving time and effort in facility maintenance. The coating is also resistant to moisture, chemicals, and staining, ensuring long-lasting performance and reducing the need for frequent repairs and replacements.

Another benefit is the aesthetic appeal of the Stranlok wall coating. With a wide range of color options, facilities can create visually pleasing environments that comply with sanitary design standards. The coating also provides excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, and UV exposure, ensuring durability and maintaining its appearance over time.

Furthermore, using Tnemec Company's Stranlok wall coating can contribute to sustainability efforts. The coating is low VOC (volatile organic compound), which means it has minimal impact on indoor air quality. It is also highly durable, reducing the need for frequent maintenance and replacements, and ultimately reducing waste.

Overall, the benefits of using Tnemec Company's Stranlok wall coating include enhanced hygiene, ease of maintenance, aesthetic appeal, durability, and sustainability.

Case Studies: Successful Implementation of Stranlok Wall Coating

Several food and beverage processing facilities have successfully implemented Tnemec Company's Stranlok wall coating, achieving improved sanitary conditions and operational efficiency.  For example, 90% of Wisconsin milk is made into cheese which equates to more than 2.8 billion pounds of cheese each year. It’s only fitting that Saputo choose Franklin, WI (a suburb of Milwaukee) to be the home of their new 300,000+ square foot new cheese processing facility. Here they cut, slice, grate, wrap, and package cheese that is made at other locations.

Tnemec’s Stranlok coating system was applied 12 feet up the CMU walls in the plant. Series 270 Stranlok creates a seamless barrier that eliminates areas of penetration where mold and bacteria often form and withstands the daily high-pressure steam cleanings required to maintain a hygienic cheese processing facility. Stranlok coatings are reinforced with fiberglass and improve the integrity of the substrate to which they are applied, providing superior resistance to impact, thermal shock and harsh chemicals. Should localized damage occur, Stranlok can be easily repaired and put back in service quickly.

Above the Stranlok, Series 130 Envirofill, N69 Hi-Build Epoxoline, and 297 Enviro-Glaze was applied to the ceilings. Series 297 Enviro-Glaze was also used as the topcoat in the Stranlok system. It provides enhanced abrasion resistance, stain resistance and color stability. It is also water-based and fast-dry. Approximately 1,750 gallons of Tnemec Coatings were applied to the walls in this facility.
